Women Victimisation in Africa

Women and Gender Issues A case study of women victimization in Africa

We Can make this society everyones Ideal Land.
I am writing this for the interest of people who understand the meaning and implement equality in gender perspective.

This story was given to me by a friend who hails from this particular region of Nigeria in Africa. It is so amazing that
in this present age women are still being victimized, seen as sex object and weak in all endeavours.

It is said that in the rural region of Africa, Women who are married and are considered beautiful face the most deadly
victimisation. In this region, There exist men without concience, men who go around killing their fellow men in order to
take over their wives. when these men die, their wives become helpless and seek comforts in the arms of an unknown
murderer for a $150 capital to start a small business.

Some women are force to agree to all the proposals by these men and in return they serve as sex object to these men.
some who rejects die of hunger due to the fact that in this region women are not really meant for education.

How long are we going to continue like this?

The teenage girls are made to start having unprotected sex at the age of 13 on the average. The story goes that if these girls don't
engage themselves in this type of trade, they might not get the basic education they need.and on their side the idea of the world is
getting married after high school.

I am not saying getting married is not important but Should a woman get married after high school with no skill, no job, or perhaps further her education even
when in the husbands house? Is it all about making babies? Is it all about cooking for him, Washing his clothes, warming his bed? NO!! NO!! absolutely NO!

What are we fighting for?, women empowerment or Equality in Educational policies from the district to the Global world? Most of these teenagers
end up with unwanted pregnancies, sexually transmitted diseases and Education interruption. while most of them who try to abort their babies die in
the process.

These teenage girls are the ones that fall victims of this men without concience. They blossom in their youth and fall victim, used,
married, husband killed and a capital of $150 given to start a trade and become old and shrunk at 25

The hope of tomorrow, future generation, a well developed and established society lies in the hands of these youngsters. Education and
empowerment is the key to fostering not only a well organized society but that of everyones ideal land.

If women and gender studies is integrated in to the high school curriculum, these children will have a hope for tomorrow. They will be motivated
from learning about the past and the present which will determine the future.

Let us make hay while the sun shine and build a well sanitized society ideal for livelihood.
