Childhood Innocence

SAVE THE CHILDHOOD INNOCENCE REQUIRES GOVERNMENT REGULATION TO THE MEDIA

I honestly feel that in the last few years, Children are loosing their innocence in a way that is beyond comprehension, Our schools
are no more disciplined and the media certainly is not a safe place. I was prompted to write this due to what I saw one day in a friends house.
it was one evening I went to visit a friend that live in the south of France. I got their only to see his children peeping from the corner
while the TV is on. I grew so curious as to find out what was going on, only to see naked women and men giving news (Is not what you think, it is not
ponography but the name is called naked news) the parents were watching and never knew there children were watching the same naked news without their
knowing it.This issue of nudity and ponography is not only seen on TV but on our mags and places of interests.

Who is responsible for this? Who is to be blamed?

I doubt if parents, teachers, guardian, Government and the society are doing their job, In order words, all has the blame.

Parents juggle through the stress of work, child care, business and spend less or no time with their kids. But that is very neccessary.

I believe that the reason why so many children are in bad shape today is because they lack adequate parental care or felt valued and loved. WHAT COULD
BE AS IMPORTANT AS SPENDING TIME WITH YOUR KIDS? When I hear people say, They want the best for their child; I wonder what they really meant by that
Some Parents care less of what their child does and some over-pampers them. We are now in the electronic age, Every child wants the new toy, games and so on
and parents are buying these toys not those books, not children story books and educational history movies meant for them.

We are not helping them at all, as we all know these sayings that `the hope of tomorrow lies in the hands of the younger ones¨then we must try as much as possible to
offer them a balanced life by giving them comforts and spending time with them.

The first teacher a child has is the parents and when they are not there, They turn to the media, (I know someone is wondering How). When you are not at
home and your child is not at school either, The children play with the remote control of the TV and choose a programme to watch, (I am talking about the
ones without nannies, of course not everyone can afford a nanny). And our media today is filled violence, drugs, sex,and other adult contents which is not meant for the
children. It is difficult to find educational kiddies programme which can serve as extra could serve as extra-curricula activity to the child. Even our conventional cartoon, If
I must say are not educating because is either violence and innocent love or other things. The media pay no attention to educational content which are supposed to help
our society and also help produce good leaders of tomorrow.

In my own understanding the society is crying without voice as the rate of ponographic scenes increases in our environment and one could wonder where we are heading to.
Yes the media has a positive effects and negative effects but the negatives surpasses the positive, I am not writing for total extinction but to regulate the contents that are to be shown.Look at this page and see poeples opinion on the effects of the media to kids. http://www.kff.org/entmedia/loader.cfm?url=/commonspot/security/getfile.cfm&PageID=50552
My idea is that we have what it takes to achieve an innocent attitude in children but we decide to overlook rather than take care of it. Today we have online dating and the introduction of internet technology has made it easier for the left to die kids who goes to browse on these sites looking for people to hook up with and at the end they are used for ponography by some unscrupulous and undesirable humans who indulge in this act to make money.

Positive Effects of Media on Children

The media (TV) improves the General Knowledge and IQ of Children. Children also learn to interact in various languages with help of television media. it also increases the social awareness of children. Cartoon channels keep the children happy. Second most important media for children is Games. Games develop the logical mindset of children. They are able to think logically and it also increases there thinking and grasping power. Newspaper media increase the vocabulary of the children. It increases there concentration and thus benefits in their studies. Balanced media use may increase the retention power of children. But one cannot achieve all these if what we see is all about ponography, violence, online dating, child labour etc.

Negative effects of media

Violence scenes on TV have negative effects on children. There nature becomes more violent. There are many examples when children created havoc in their schools in shooting accidents. Children could think that they are super heroes and jump from high rise building thus creating a threat for their life. They may become more aggressive and rude in nature. There health may be spoiled due to watching excessive television. They may concentrate less in there studies. Its excessive use may decrease there memory retention power.

How do we control this when people in our society sponsor these people and humans patronise by buying the products from them. when you keep these in homes the children watch them without your knowledge. A woman once told me that her child came home and started behaving in an uncomprehensible manner and as she is not aware she was surprise see a mag containing adult contents in her bag.

Many children watch between two and four hours of television per day. The presence or absence of role models, how women and men, girls and boys are presented, and what activities they participate in on the screen powerfully affect how girls and boys view their role in the world. Studies looking at cartoons, regular television, and commercials show that although many changes have occurred in girls, in particular have a wider range of role models, for girls "how they look" is more important than "what they do." That girl wants to look like that model in the TV or paper. etc and that is why they don´t care about what they would be but how they look.

Teachers endeavour to know what that child under your care is doing at every point in time and help in moral advice because you not only teach but at the same time act as a guardian to the child.
Everyhand should be on desk, lets make a difference now in order to achieve and restore a normal, happier and relaxed society.
